- Based in Wangaratta at our Therapeutic Community, Residential AOD Rehabilitation
- Part-time – 0.9 EFT
- Temporary Contract until 30.01.2026
ABOUT US
Gateway Health is a community health service providing health and welfare services to individuals, families and communities across Northeast Victoria and parts of Southern New South Wales. We are a not-for-profit Company limited by guarantee and a registered Community Health Service under the Health Services Act 1988 (Vic).
The organisation employs over 380 staff providing a range of primary health and community services across the Ovens Murray region in Northeast Victoria and parts of Southern New South Wales. Gateway Health serves all people and is committed to improving individual and population health outcomes. We do this by providing health care and support to individuals and communities in times of need, and by actively working with our partners to address the social and environmental determinants of health.
The Wangaratta Therapeutic Community (WTC) program, where this position is based, is a 30 bed AOD residential rehabilitation funded by the Department of Health which provides rehabilitation support to adults experiencing significant harm relating to their AOD use.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a Clinical Team Leader to join our team at the WTC on a short-term basis, until 30.01.2026.
The model of care used in the program is the Therapeutic Community (TC) model where the community itself, through self-help and mutual support, is the principal means for promoting personal change. The full 12-month program offers group psychoeducation and group therapy, individual case management, individual counselling, and participation in site-based work, recreation and social activities.
As well as supervising and leading the AOD Clinical team and Admissions team, you will work closely with the Program Manager and House Operations Team Leader to lead the 24/7 functions of Gateway Health’s residential rehabilitation facility. You will guide and promote the therapeutic community model of care, deliver group and individual therapeutic interventions, and foster a positive work environment.
ABOUT YOU
To be a successful Gateway Health Leader, you must have a real passion for working with people to help them develop and can demonstrate proven experience and leadership skills.
You are an experienced and values-driven leader with a strong background in alcohol and other drug (AOD) services, mental health, or related fields. With tertiary qualifications in AOD/Addictive Behaviours, Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health, or Community Services (and current registration with your professional body), you bring both clinical expertise and proven leadership skills.
You have a deep understanding of co-occurring mental health and substance use issues, and experience working with people who may be high-risk, marginalised, or difficult to engage. You are confident in supervising and supporting staff, fostering a positive team culture, and driving service quality through innovation, evidence-based practice, and continuous improvement.
Highly organised and adaptable, you can manage competing priorities, lead multidisciplinary teams, and respond effectively in dynamic and challenging environments. Your strong communication, problem-solving and negotiation skills enable you to build collaborative partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders, including residents, families, community organisations and funding bodies.
