About the role

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a qualified Clinician to lead the new Life Without Barriers Family Based AOD Psychosocial Support Program, based in Newcastle.

The role of the Clinician is to provide a high level of skilled AOD Psychosocial counselling, case management and care coordination to parents with young children, with the aim of reducing AOD related harms. The Clinician will lead a small team of Community/Peer Support Workers, partnering with parents and stakeholders to conduct assessments and deliver a range of evidence-based, wraparound supports, including individual and group interventions. The goal is to improve health, wellbeing, and social outcomes, and to increase clients' access to and engagement with AOD, health, and social services.

This role is being offered as a permanent part-time (0.8 FTE) position. Working hours can be negotiated flexibly with the successful candidate, including part-time work-from-home arrangements. Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake initial assessment and triage for program inclusion, to ensure timely access to support clients.
  • Develop comprehensive formulations and risk assessments to inform appropriate intervention.
  • Administer, interpret and report on a range of assessments as appropriate consistent with professional registrations and client need
  • Monitor and review progress of clients against the care plan and outcome measures and provide up to date progress reports to the partner organisations and care team demonstrating client outcomes.
  • Through multi-disciplinary intervention and clinical case management, and in collaboration with other support services, support clients to maintain or re-engage in community, education, employment, social, and recreational networks and activities and build capability for self-determination and self-management.

Skills and Experience

  • A tertiary degree in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Nursing (with demonstrated skills or experience in Mental Health or Drug and Alcohol Nursing) or other relevant qualification
  • Current full registration or eligibility for registration, with the relevant professional organisation/s
  • Demonstrated experience in the provision of holistic AOD (or related field) and family focussed supports.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, and in collaboration with diverse service providers to deliver wrap around support and case management
  • Current unrestricted drivers license and own vehicle (business travel reimbursed).
