About the job

The Online Youth Mental Health Clinician will directly support young people using MOST in our established service roll out throughout Victoria, QLD, NSW, the ACT and WA, as well as supporting young people in our new venture to expand Nationally. This position can be based in QLD/VIC or WA.

Reporting to the Senior Clinician, you will:
  • Engagement & Onboarding: Welcome young people and families onto the MOST platform, helping users engage with clinical content and social features. Maintain regular contact via messaging or phone and assess any risks, escalating as needed.
  • Monitoring & Supervision: Keep accurate records of young people’s engagement, monitor their safety on the platform, and communicate regularly with referring clinicians to keep them updated.
  • Collaborative Development: Contribute to service development by working alongside peer and vocational workers to enhance the MOST model for supporting young people.
  • Maintain weekly contact with MOST users via direct messaging, discussions on the online forums, text message, telephone, or video call.
After hours and weekend work will be required: participating in a rotating roster across different shifts, including 12pm – 8pm AEST (if located in VIC or QLD), 10am-6pm AWST or 11:30am – 7:30pm AWST (if located in WA). Regular weekend and Public Holiday shifts are also required, which are rotated through all staff (3.5 hours Saturday and 2 hours Sunday, Public Holidays varied contingent on need).

Skills and experience

The following criteria must be met for consideration for this position:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Psychiatric Nursing or Social Work and full registration with AHPRA or eligibility with AASW.
  • An understanding of youth mental health systems and an ability to apply this knowledge to the Orygen Digital context.
  • Experience working in clinical settings within the Western Australian youth mental health system.
  • Demonstrated sound ability to make decisions, solve problem, and risk manage, in relation to young person’s treatment.
  • Demonstrated awareness of mental health and social issues, experience working with individuals experiencing crises, and experience working with high-risk clients.

This is a part-time to full-time (0.6 -1.0 FTE) ongoing contract.
