About the Role
We’re looking for a skilled Commissioning Lead (Electrical & Instrumentation) to take ownership of commissioning activities across major gas pipelines, pressure facilities, and energy infrastructure projects. You will play a vital role, ensuring that all systems are tested, verified, and handed over ready for safe, compliant, and reliable operation.
In this role, you will:
- Lead planning and execution of commissioning activities for E&I systems
- Conduct and manage Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)
- Drive quality, safety, and compliance with Australian and international standards
- Review designs and provide technical input to project and engineering teams
- Develop commissioning procedures, test plans, and completion records
- Coordinate with SCADA, controls, and mechanical teams to ensure seamless integration
- Support fault finding and issue resolution during commissioning
- Interface with clients, stakeholders, and project managers to deliver to schedule
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and technicians across the team
About You
You are hands-on with a passion for commissioning excellence and delivering complex projects.
You bring strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across diverse teams.
Essential:
- Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent practical experience)
- Certificate III in Instrumentation and Control
- Current Electrical Licence
- Demonstrated experience commissioning high-pressure gas pipelines and facilities
- Proven expertise in electrical and instrumentation commissioning
- Strong knowledge of Australian Standards, AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 4761, AS 61508/61511 (functional safety)
- Experience supporting commissioning teams in complex brownfield and greenfield environments
- Familiarity with FAT and SAT processes
- Strong technical writing — commissioning plans, procedures, ITPs, and records
- Proven ability to manage safety-critical commissioning activities with strong risk awareness
- Ability to collaborate effectively with mechanical, process, SCADA, and construction teams
Highly Regarded:
- Experience commissioning of Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), Emergency Shutdown (ESD), Fire & Gas detection
- Experience coordinating SCADA / PLC / RTU / control systems integration
- Knowledge of temporary power systems, energisation sequencing, isolations
- Experience with Type B gas appliances
- Cross-disciplinary understanding of process engineering, mechanical, and controls interfaces
