About the role:

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Communications and Engagement Manager will deliver clear, engaging, and accessible communications across multiple platforms to support the Centre's mission to improve mental health and wellbeing for all Victorians. Working across the organisation, they will use their skills to oversee and produce print, digital, and multimedia content, coordinate Collaborative Centre events with the Event Lead, and utilise the Centre's AI-driven IT and CRM platforms to ensure communications and Centre programs effectively reach and resonate with diverse audiences.
Using their well-developed interpersonal skills, they will build strong relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders, incorporate lived experience perspectives into all Centre communications, and ensure communications meet governance, risk, and whole-of-government standards. They will also collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and projects to respond to emerging priorities and shifting demands, while establishing and monitoring performance metrics to evaluate communication effectiveness and inform continuous improvement.

About you:
  • You have a sound understanding of the Victorian mental health system.
  • You are able to prepare complex briefs, letters, emails and reports using clear, concise and grammatically correct language.
  • You are comfortable consulting, liaising with and influencing key stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • Tertiary qualification in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related discipline is highly desirable.
  • Additional qualifications or professional development in digital communications, use of AI-driven or CRM platforms, stakeholder engagement, project management, or leadership is advantageous.
Experience
  • Demonstrated experience working with people who have a past or current lived experience of mental ill-health or psychological distress is preferable.
  • Experience working in health, research, or public sector settings, with understanding of policy environments and governance structures is desirable.
