Airservices Australia is seeking a dynamic and experienced Cyber Security Operations Lead to join our Technology Strategy, Assurance & Cyber team. This pivotal leadership role is responsible for overseeing daily cyber operations and coordinating incident response across a complex, high-stakes environment.
About the Role
As Cyber Security Operations Lead, you will:
Lead a team of skilled cyber professionals within our Cyber Defence Operations Centre (CDOC)
Manage security tools, engineering, and operational risk
Coordinate incident response and ensure rapid, effective resolution
Provide expert advice to internal stakeholders and service providers
Monitor and report on control effectiveness, driving remediation strategies
Support managed services contracts and vendor performance
Contribute to enterprise-wide cyber resilience and strategic planning
What You’ll Bring
Proven experience in cyber security operations within a complex enterprise
Deep understanding of Australian Government security frameworks (ISM, PSPF)
Strong grasp of threat vectors and control effectiveness in ICT and OT environments
Ability to translate technical risks into business language
Leadership experience with a focus on stakeholder engagement and team development
Qualifications such as CISSP, CISM, or equivalent (highly desirable)
Eligibility for an Australian Government NV1 Security Clearance

Qualifications
Formal academic qualifications in an Information Communications Technology (ICT) discipline or Cyber Security are highly desirable.
Industry recognised qualifications in at least two of the following or similar are expected:
CISSP – Certified Information Systems Security Professional
CISM – Certified Information Security Manager
SEC488: Cloud Security Essentials
SEC504: Hacker Tools, Techniques, Exploits, and Incident Handling
FOR508: Advanced Incident Response, Threat Hunting, and Digital Forensics
ICS410: ICS/SCADA Security Essentials
FOR578: Cyber Threat Intelligence
FOR572: Advanced Network Forensics: Threat Hunting, Analysis, and Incident Response
CRISC – Certified Risk and Information Systems Control
CGEIT – Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT
CISSP – ISSAP, ISSEP, ISSM
Security Clearance
