**What’s the role?**
Our eCommerce team delivers trusted, expert-led product recommendations through news.com.au’s Checkout and across brands including Body+Soul, Escape, Kidspot, Taste and our State and Communities mastheads. We’re building a culture of editorial excellence with a focus on high-quality, trusted advice that helps Australians make confident shopping decisions.
**About the Role:**
As Deputy Editor, you are the second-in-command in our eCommerce editorial team, reporting to the Editor. You’ll play a critical role in keeping content operations running smoothly, ensuring deadlines are met and editorial standards remain high.
You will manage workflow across the team, guide writers and optimise processes to improve efficiency and performance. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can balance attention to detail with the ability to pivot quickly.
+ Oversee content production processes across the department ensuring efficiency, quality and strategic alignment
+ Manage day-to-day workflow and deadlines across the editorial team
+ Mentor writers and social producers to develop skills and maintain high content standards
+ Optimise workflow efficiency and track performance metrics to identify improvements
+ Collaborate with the Editor and stakeholders to refine strategies and improve outcomes
+ Monitor competitor activity and industry trends to inform content direction
+ Support the planning and execution of tentpole and seasonal content projects
+ Champion brand voice and editorial quality across all content
**Who are you?**
+ At least 5+ years relevant experience in content creation and management including team leadership
+ Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
+ Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop team members
+ Proven experience of off-platform content management, creation and innovation
+ Opportunity spotting, initiative, drive and the ability to inspire a team
+ Fast-paced, quick thinker, solutions-oriented and positive under pressure
+ Broad content expertise across writing, editing, video and social
+ Comfortable creating video and appearing on-camera where required
+ Confident public speaker who can advocate for the brand in internal and external settings
+ Experience using multiple CMS platforms and creative tools such as Canva and Monday
+ Desirable: Newsroom experience, understanding of the changing SEO landscape, experience managing EDMs and editing social video
