Vertical Transport Solutions Pty Ltd (VTS) is a leading provider of elevator and escalator installations, servicing, and modernisations. As part of our ongoing growth, we are seeking a qualified Electronic Instrument Technician to support the control systems and instrumentation within our vertical transport operations.
This position plays a crucial role in the installation, modification, maintenance, and repair of electronic instruments and control systems embedded in elevator and escalator equipment. The technician will work across systems that combine electronic, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic technologies to ensure performance, reliability, and compliance with Australian safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install and commission electronic instruments, sensors, and automated control systems for elevators and escalators, ensuring alignment with technical and safety requirements.
- Modify, calibrate, and adjust lift control instruments and systems, including those integrating Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), variable speed drives, and interface relays.
- Troubleshoot faults within electronic instruments including control panels, sensor arrays, electronic circuits, and safety systems used in vertical transport equipment.
- Repair or replace malfunctioning electronic instrument components within controllers, wiring, circuit boards, encoders, and limit switches.
- Perform regular inspections, preventative maintenance, and diagnostic tests on lift instrumentation and control systems to prevent downtime.
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams, lift-specific schematics, technical manuals, and system documentation to support accurate servicing.
- Conduct compliance checks and testing in accordance with WHS regulations and Australian Standards relevant to lift industry electronics.
- Collaborate closely with lift mechanics, electrical fitters, and installation teams to enhance system functionality and reliability.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Qualifications related to Electronic or Electrical Technology, Electrical Instrumentation or similar
- At least 2-3 years proven experience working with electronic control systems in elevators, escalators, or other industrial automation settings.
- High-level diagnostic skills in fault-finding and performance tuning of lift-specific electronic and control systems.
- Familiarity with advanced technologies such as PLC programming, elevator group control systems, and integrated safety relays.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and lift wiring layouts with precision.
- Solid understanding of Australian electrical safety standards, WHS procedures, and compliance obligations.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team.

Pay: $80,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year
