This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced professional with a background in emergency management to join the City of Boroondara and lead Council’s emergency preparedness and management response.
A little bit about the role
The Emergency Management Coordinator (EMC) leads Council’s emergency preparedness and management response and drives improvements to Council’s emergency management operations in line with best practice. The EMC also provides strategic input into Council’s broader emergency management planning (incorporating response, relief and recovery components), systems, and processes to ensure Council meets its statutory obligations.
The EMC also assumes the statutory role of Municipal Recovery Manager (MRM), supported by deputy MRMs and is required to be part of the on-call roster.
A little bit about you
You will have relevant general and/or specific emergency management qualifications together with relevant work experience. You will have highly developed problem solving and critical thinking skills and be experienced in delivering complex and diverse projects along with proven experience in managing emergencies and/or relief and recovery management.
You will have strong communications skills and a track record of building relationships and the ability to engage with a range of stakeholders in the community including all levels of government, other organisations, networks, and local residents.
You will have sound knowledge of emergency management principles, including the role of building community resilience in supporting and sustaining communities.
Employment Requirements
Tertiary qualification in emergency management, public and environmental health community development or relevant qualification is required, together with further formal qualification and/or experience in the emergency management area.

Preferred applicants will be required to undergo a National Police Record Check and hold a valid Working with Children Clearance.
Current Victorian Drivers Licence
