For more than 20 years, people in Australia have placed their trust in Beyond Blue as a reliable source of mental health information, support, and hope.
We are one of Australia’s most well-known, trusted, and visited mental health organisations. We never take this for granted. With it comes a deep responsibility to listen, to understand people’s needs and aspirations, and to ensure they are at the heart of everything we do.
We are a big blue door for many in the community: a safe and reliable place for millions of people to access information, advice and support – whether they’re well and want to stay that way, unsettled or struggling and need support, or in recovery and want to reconnect.
About the role
Are you passionate about driving real-world change through research, policy, and strategy?
Beyond Blue is seeking an experienced and visionary Evidence and Impact Adviser to help us translate knowledge into action. Sitting within our Strategy, Policy and Advice Unit, this role champions the “Leading” and “Integrity” Goals of Strategy 2023+, ensuring our work is informed, effective, and impactful.
You’ll work collaboratively across the organisation, shaping products, services, and advocacy with meaningful insights. Your guidance will also strengthen our accountability through robust evaluation—both internally and independently.
If you're a strategic thinker with a heart for social change and systemic influence, this is your chance to make a difference where it matters most
As an Evidence and Impact Adviser, you will:
- Provide strategic advice and build capacity across the organisation in evaluation methods and frameworks (quantitative and qualitative)
- Lead internal and external evaluation projects, including design, procurement, implementation, and translation of findings
- Offer expert research guidance and deliver evidence reviews to inform product and service development
- Undertake in-house research projects and provide human research ethics advice
- Drive knowledge management activities and promote evidence-based practice organisation-wide
- Support the delivery of Beyond Blue’s Research Strategy
- Engage people with lived experience in research and evaluation initiatives
- Build strong internal relationships and maintain external evidence and impact networks
- Manage monitoring and evaluation documentation, tools and systems, and ensure compliance with governance and budget processes
- Produce high-quality documentation, briefings and reports, including Board and external reporting
About you
To be successful you will hold a:
- Tertiary qualification in public health, health promotion, social sciences, research, or a related discipline
- Strong understanding of evaluation and research methods, including innovative approaches like developmental and realist evaluation, implementation science, and outcome measurement
- Demonstrated experience designing, conducting, and managing research and evaluation projects using both quantitative and qualitative approaches
- Demonstrated experience applying statistical techniques to analyse data, identify trends, and draw conclusions
- Experience with statistical software packages like SPSS or Q Research.
- Proven ability to source, synthesise, and translate evidence into product design, service delivery, and policy development
- Skilled in stakeholder engagement, with excellent interpersonal and negotiation abilities across complex, multi-stakeholder environments
- High-level communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to different audiences and produce compelling written materials
- Familiarity with agile working methodologies and a proactive mindset for continuous improvement and adaptive team practices
- Ability to influence collaboratively while fostering respectful, inclusive relationships and driving evidence-based practice
