This is a great opportunity to join Council as a Casual Cleaner, where the key focus of the role is to maintain the cleanliness and presentation of council buildings and facilities. You’ll play an important role in creating safe, hygienic, and welcoming spaces for the community. With flexible hours and a supportive team, this role offers valuable experience and the chance to contribute to your local community.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensuring that you provide a high standard of cleaning to your day to day work to deliver a clean, hygienic, safe and aesthetically pleasing environment for Council employees and members of the public;
- General housekeeping including dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning glass surfaces, rubbish disposal/collection and restocking of consumables;
- General cleaning of staff amenities including kitchenettes, toilets and offices.
Our Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is reliable, hardworking, and takes pride in maintaining clean and safe environments. They have good attention to detail, work well independently or as part of a team, and are committed to providing high-quality cleaning services. Experience in commercial or facility cleaning is desirable, but not essential.
Key Selection Criteria

- Ability to deliver high-quality work to keep Council spaces clean, safe, hygienic, and visually appealing for staff and the public;
- Knowledge of safe chemical handling, including accurately mixing chemicals according to instructions;
- Self-motivated and able to work well both independently and as part of a team;
- Strong customer service skills, with a focus on providing excellent service;
- Good organisational and time management skills to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines , and plan your own work effectively;
- Possession of a current Queensland ‘C’ Class driver’s licence (or equivalent) essential.
- Experience using small equipment such as pressure cleaners, mowers, or basic power tools;
- Previous experience in commercial or public cleaning highly desirable;
- Certificate II in Cleaning Operations (or similar) is highly regarded; and
- Current First Aid Certificate is highly desirable.
General Salary Information
Casual rate $38.31 per hour including allowances plus superannuation.
