About the role
This campus-based role is crucial for ensuring Community Services students gain high-quality practical experience. You will oversee and coordinate all aspects of fieldwork placements for the Bachelor of Community Services program, from procurement and establishment to assessment, ensuring placements meet academic and professional accreditation standards.
You'll collaborate with the IKON Work Placement Team and industry partners to manage relationships and arrange student placements in both government and non-government agencies. As the primary academic contact for fieldwork on your campus, you will also provide expert advice on placement development and supervision and oversee the work of Academic Liaison Visitors.
Key Responsibilities
As the Campus Fieldwork Placement Coordinator for Community Services, you will ensure our students have high-quality, compliant fieldwork experiences. Your core responsibilities include:
- Managing all aspects of community services field placements, from developing systems to ensure CWA compliance, to building relationships with external organizations for diverse opportunities.
- Providing essential support and guidance to students, agency supervisors, and host organizations throughout the placement process.
- Collaborating with academic staff and the Work Placement Team to develop policies, administer agreements, oversee student records, and maintain academic standards.
- Designing and delivering preparation workshops for students, and recruiting, training, and supporting Academic Liaison Visitors.
- Fostering a positive culture, upholding Ikon's values, ensuring regulatory compliance (AQF, CWA, ESOS, National Code), and engaging in professional development and reporting.
Education, Experience & Skill
- A Bachelor Degree or higher in Social Work, Community Services, Social Welfare, or Human Services, and a minimum of 3 years relevant post qualification industry experience.
- Full membership, or eligibility for full membership, of the Community Work Australia (CWA).
- Knowledge of contemporary developments in the community services sector informed by continuing scholarship and/or practice.
- Experience in supervising community services students in work-based contexts.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the capacity to establish and maintain collaborative relationships and handle complex or sensitive matters with professionalism, confidentiality, empathy, and discretion.
- Advanced problem-solving, organisational, and analytical abilities, including the capacity to manage multiple tasks, prioritise effectively, and meet competing deadlines with accuracy, attention to detail, and a proactive approach.
- Demonstrated understanding of the accreditation requirements, Code of Ethics and Practice Guidelines of Community Work Australia (CWA).
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite of programs and demonstrated ability to learn, implement and promote the use of business systems and databases
