Haileybury is seeking a qualified and experienced French Language Assistant to join our team to support students across our Keysborough campus and Haileybury Pangea, our online school. This fixed-term, part-time (0.6 FTE) position, from 23 January to 11 December 2026, offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students’ language learning journey.
Responsibilities
As a French Language Assistant, you will:
- Reinforce speaking skills through one-on-one sessions or small group activities with students.
- Assist students in strengthening their understanding of class concepts, while also extending learning opportunities for those who demonstrate proficiency beyond the expected year level.
- Differentiate reading materials to suit the different levels of language fluency.
- Assist in the preparation of teaching resources for a particular year level.
- Keep records of student progress in their language development.
- Maintain regular communication with language teaching staff regarding student progress and behavioural concerns.
- Provide support, as required, in Middle School language classroom activities and extra-curricular programs.
About you
We are looking for a team member who is:
- A native French speaker with a strong grasp of the language’s history and cultural heritage
- Well-versed in the Victorian and Australian language curriculum
- Experienced Language Assistant supporting Middle Years students
- Skilled in engaging learners both in-person and through online platforms
