Head of Engineering & Maintenance

Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will be an integral part of our Leadership Team. In this role you will be responsible for leading, improving and delivering a safe and reliable rail network and passenger fleet for Sydney Trains. You will oversee all aspects of rail engineering, including strategy, design, construction and maintenance.
Some of your team’s key responsibilities will include:
- Provide resources and expertise to support the organisation in implementing best practice management of Sydney Trains’ assets.
- You will lead, manage and deliver the commercial contracts and supply chain services, focusing on things like supply chain performance and planning, contract management and commercial management.
- You will provide design, engineering and technical assurance services to Sydney Trains and TfNSW to ensure safety and integrity.
- You will lead and deliver safe, reliable and commercially competitive fleet maintenance services, including cleanliness and operational readiness.
- You will deliver large-scale maintenance, renewal and enhancements on the railway assets including track, signals, control systems, electrical and operational technology.

About you
You are an experienced executive leader with strong insight and experience within the engineering and/or maintenance fields.
- You bring demonstrated leadership in a senior leadership role, preferably with a rail or engineering background.
- You bring demonstrated experience working collaboratively within cross-functional teams and with other executive leaders.
- You bring experience confidently leading engineers and technical experts with the ability to challenge when necessary.
- You have demonstrated experience developing, leading, and driving engineering and maintenance frameworks and systems across a diverse and complex organisation.
- You have strong experience building relationships and dealing with stakeholders of all levels and the ability to articulate complex concepts and put forward compelling arguments and rationales.
- You bring deep experience leading and building team maturity and leading through change and cultural reform.
- You bring strong experience managing the wellbeing and mental health of employees within a complex, operational organisation.
- You are experienced in creating, delivering and maintaining clear outcomes focused frameworks across a large scale organisation.
- You champion a customer-centric safety ethos.
