Primary objective
In line with Tourism NT’s marketing and communications strategy and through trade initiatives maximise awareness and
conversion for the Northern Territory as a leisure travel destination to key source international markets.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Develop and deliver destination familiarisation programs for international trade and ITOs to showcase NT experiences.
2. Plan and coordinate international Tourism NT trade events, including logistics, supplier management, and trade
communications.
3. Implement trade engagement activities such as training, webinars, and product updates to boost NT product awareness
and distribution.
4. Manage Tourism NT’s involvement in external trade events, including collaboration with stakeholders like Tourism
Australia.
5. Oversee reporting and financial management for international trade events, training, and familiarisations.
6. Host international famils, ensuring high-quality service delivery throughout the itinerary.
7. Represent Tourism NT at trade events and conduct B2B meetings with global trade partners.
8. Support NT tourism businesses seeking to grow in international markets through industry liaison and advice
Selection criteria
Essential
1. High level understanding of the international travel/tourism industry, including global distribution and target consumers.
2. Significant experience in event organisation and trade familiarisation coordination and hosting.
3. Significant experience in public speaking, presenting and/or delivering training programs.
4. Effective interpersonal and communication skills for dealing with a wide range of people coming from a variety of
technical knowledge bases and an ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures.
5. Extensive project management experience including the management of trade partners, consultancies and contractors
and the ability to influence for positive outcomes.
6. Must hold a valid Australian driver’s licence.
Desirable
1. Tertiary qualifications in tourism, communications, business, marketing and/or other related discipline.
2. Knowledge and understanding of the Northern Territory tourism industry, including major players and relevant
stakeholders, or the ability to obtain such knowledge quickly.

At times this position requires travel to regional/remote areas and work outside standard office hours.
