We have an exciting new opportunity for a Junior Category Manager to join our growing Home & Appliances team at Kogan.com!

We're looking for a commercially-minded and outcomes-driven Junior Category Manager to help shape and grow our product offering. While a background in furniture or homewares is a plus, it's not essential — a genuine interest in those categories and a strong understanding of product trends will go a long way.

This role is perfect for someone who has already gained exposure to category management and is now ready to take on greater ownership and responsibility. You’ll be given the opportunity to manage a portfolio, partner with suppliers, launch new products, and make a real impact on what our customers see and shop for every day.

Reporting to the Head of Home & Appliances, this role is ideal for a developing Category Manager who thrives in a fast-paced, commercially focused environment and is excited by the opportunity to grow with a dynamic and innovative eCommerce business.

If you're a driven Assistant Buyer / Category Assistant looking to take the next step, or a Junior Category Manager ready for a new and exciting category, this is a brilliant opportunity to utilise your sourcing and buying expertise within a leading, ASX listed eCommerce business, and turn your passion for product into an exceptional offering for our customer!

You'll be responsible for:

    • Identifying commercial opportunities for expansion of category including sourcing and developing new products
    • Engaging and sourcing key suppliers, locally and internationally, in Kogan.com's Exclusive Brands
    • Actively managing daily category operations including; planning and promotional activity, inventory management, shipping and logistics to ensure revenue and profit targets are exceeded every month
    • Managing and engaging with key stakeholders, internally and externally, to build effective working relationships and achieve outcomes
    • Maximising profitability of all products, through a depth of understanding of your category and the market
    • Being proactive, innovative and striving to continually develop your category for our customers
    • Actively negotiating the best possible trading terms and prices
    • Drive and control price changes across our different sales channels, and contribute towards pricing reviews when required
    • Ensuring timely introduction of new products, efficient management of current and future inventory and ensuring timely fulfilment of customer demand
    • Actively manage and monitor inventory levels to achieve your category’s goals and KPIs. This includes forward forecasting, planning promotional activity and actively reacting to market conditions.
    • Partnering with the Marketing & Promotions teams to ensure product listings are well merchandised and discoverable to support the customer journey
    • Monitoring performance and completing range reviews across your category and taking action where necessary

To be successful in this role, you should be:

    • University Degree qualified in a relevant field (Commerce, Business, Economics or similar)
    • Experienced with Category ownership, at either an Assistant or Junior Category Manager level, or have supported a Category Manager with exposure / ownership of a product range and ready to step up to have full category ownership
    • Experience within an eCommerce, Retail or FMCG environment and / or Home & Living categories will be highly regarded
    • Comfortable building and maintaining effective relationships, through exceptional communication and engagement
    • Highly analytical and possess commercial nous, being able to recognise opportunity and make quick decisions for the best commercial outcomes, so that we can offer market-leading pricing to our customers
    • Comfortable working within a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Being agile and adaptable is key to success!
    • A whiz with Microsoft Excel (we’re talking VLOOKUP and pivot tables, not SUM and AVERAGE - and we will test your capabilities).
    • Tech savvy and able to use various IT and cloud-based tools to improve efficiency and productivity
