The role
We’re currently looking for an experienced legal professional to join the Crown Sydney Legal team. Based in the iconic Barangaroo property, this role is central to providing legal assistance to a diverse range of business units and stakeholders on day-to-day operations and matters across all aspects of the business, as well as ensuring the business meets all compliance, regulatory, legislative, contractual and other obligations.

At Crown Sydney you’ll be exposed to a range of matters including gaming and liquor licensing, hospitality operations, contractual matters, marketing and PR, property law matters, HR and employment, IT, privacy, security and surveillance operations, health and safety, disputes and litigation, and a variety of commercial law matters.
The role also involves working closely with the Compliance and Regulatory Affairs and Government and Industry Affairs teams on all key regulatory and compliance issues impacting Crown Sydney. This role is part of the wider Crown Resorts legal team and offers opportunities to interact with your colleagues in Melbourne and Perth and contribute to a number of group-wide initiatives.

Some of the key responsibilities will involve:
- Providing timely, commercially focused and accurate day-to-day advice to all business units, with a focus on gaming-related matters.
- Drafting, negotiating and advising on various contractual matters, including supply of goods, services, consultancy, management, retail leases, licenses & IT
- Assisting in the development of policies, procedures and training of staff on relevant legal issues
- Reviewing marketing and promotions and related collateral, including Providing trade promotion lotteries (competitions) advice and drafting of related terms and conditions
- Working closely with the Compliance & Regulatory Affairs team on a wide range of matters relating to compliance with gaming and liquor legislation.
- Identifying areas of concern/importance for the company to the Crown Sydney General Counsel & Company Secretary,
- Managing litigation and disputes in a cost-effective manner
- Implementing risk management strategies and other programs as appropriate to relevant business units/personnel
- Engaging with external legal counsel, when necessary on specialist or complex matters
- Providing assistance to the Crown Sydney General Counsel & Company Secretary on a variety of legal matters as required
- Supporting the broader legal needs of the Crown Sydney business, as well as Crown Resorts (group)
Candidate requirements:
- At least 5 years of PQE (in-house experience advantageous but not required)
- Experience within a hospitality, media, entertainment or similar environment or advising on the same is beneficial
- Relevant Law degree such as a Juris Doctor or Bachelor of Law from an accredited institution
- Admitted to practice as a Solicitor in NSW, or other State in Australia
- Excellent presentation, communication and interpersonal skills to work with all levels of leadership
- Strong time-management skills, with ability to manage multiple priorities and competing stakeholders
- Ability to thrive and work in a high-pressure, fast-paced and highly-regulated environment
- Holds, or is eligible to obtain all required Casino Employee Licenses
- Permanent and unrestricted Australian working rights
