Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission.

Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the `Courts Group'.

Our people enable the Courts Group to deliver on individual and connected strategic priorities.

The Office of General Counsel comprises the following functions: legal and governance, risk audit and insurance services, records management and integrity and compliance. The Office of General Counsel provides expert advice and services to CSV across these functions on a wide range of matters.

About the role:

Reporting directly to the General Counsel, this role involves providing efficient and effective support to the General Counsel with their legal and administrative tasks.

Key legal and administrative accountabilities include:

  • Reporting to General Counsel, conduct legal research, analysing findings, and preparing summaries on various legal matters
  • Drafting, reviewing, and editing legal documents under the guidance of the General Counsel.
  • Preparing and proofreading legal documents, reports, and presentations
  • Assisting the General Counsel with ad-hoc projects and initiatives as required.
  • Assisting in the management of legal cases including by maintaining case files, tracking deadlines, and scheduling appointments and court appearances.
  • Managing and coordinating the General Counsel's schedule, including meetings, appointments, and travel arrangements.
  • Handling and prioritising incoming emails and correspondence, drafting responses when necessary
  • Handling expense reports, budget tracking, payment of invoices and other administrative tasks
  • Scheduling, coordinating, and preparing materials for meetings, including board and committee meetings, Office of General Counsel team meetings, and client meetings.

About you:

  • Degree in Law (desirable)
  • Ability to interpret, understand and draft high quality legal documentation
  • Exceptional interpersonal and administrative skills
  • Highly experienced and proficient in MS Office with expertise in Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
