About the role
Red Cross assists individuals and communities before, during and after an emergency or event, to cope with and manage the psychosocial impacts of emergencies.
This Emergency Services Recovery Officer role will be focussed on training delivery and capability development in key disaster recovery areas across Queensland. In it, you will facilitate a suite of training packages and activities that support communities to prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies. You will work closely with local councils, community organisations, and volunteers to build knowledge, capability, and confidence before disaster hits. You may also play a role in assisting Red Cross Emergency Services during disaster response to address immediate community needs. This dynamic position demands flexibility, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous learning in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
You will bring
- Relevant four-year degree with one-year relevant experience or three year degree with two years of relevant experience or lesser formal qualifications with substantial years of relevant experience
- Prior experience in emergency management, project management or community engagement and/or community development
- Experience in delivering training activities
- Previous experience in delivering project/program outcomes
- Ability to effectively support communities before, during, or after a disaster
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders
- Interpersonal skills, presentation skills and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
A clearance to work with children (Blue Card) is requirement for this role
