Primary objective
Contribute to building school capabilities to improve educational outcomes for students by supporting teachers to improve student
progress by mentoring and leading teaching and learning teams.
Context statement
Sadadeen Primary School is an independent public school located in the northern suburbs of Alice Springs with an approximate
enrolment of 100 students, P-6. Many of our students are from diverse cultural backgrounds, including a cohort of approximately
90% who are Aboriginal. We work closely with our families, allied health professionals and agencies within Alice Springs to support
the inclusion and engagement needs of our students, 43% of whom have an additional need or disability indicator. We provide
many pathways and programs that allow all learners to participate in rich learning programs including a focus on STEAM and
wellbeing across all year levels.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide support for teachers, with a focus on building capability to use data and current research to reflect on and refine
Literacy pedagogical practice and teaching.
2. In collaboration with the Leadership Team provide leadership and coaching to teachers in the development and implementation
of quality literacy curriculum and assessment procedures.
3. Lead the development of the deep knowledge base required to build teacher capability including the design and development
of professional learning activities.
4. Undertake an appropriate teaching load.
5. Lead, coordinate and facilitate the implementation of systemic requirements and support whole school evidence-based
approaches to Literacy teaching and learning.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated proven ability to work collaboratively, facilitate professional learning and lead professional learning teams to
achieve high quality educational outcomes for students through coaching and modelling.
2. Comprehensive knowledge of curriculum and an understanding of contemporary educational research relating to school
improvement and developments in primary teaching, learning, assessment, and intervention.
3. Highly developed interpersonal skills in building and maintaining effective professional relationships and networks.
4. Ability to interact collaboratively and effectively with people from diverse cultures to build and maintain effective relationships
and networks in cross cultural contexts.
Desirable
1. Qualification or experience in coaching and/or mentoring.
