Join our team as a Local History Adviser
Are you passionate about preserving and sharing local stories? We’re seeking an experienced and community-minded professional to lead the development and delivery of Redland City Council’s local history services. In this unique role, you’ll manage a specialist collection and deliver engaging research, programs and content that bring the city’s rich history to life. You'll work closely with our community, historical organisations, and internal teams to ensure our local history resources continue to inform, inspire, and connect current and future generations.
Your responsibilities will include:
Lead and promote Redland Libraries’ local history services.
Create engaging programs, events, content and displays.
Source, catalogue and preserve local history materials.
Respond to history enquiries from the community and Council.
Deliver talks and presentations on Redlands’ stories.
Partner with museums, societies and the State Library.
Supervise and support Cleveland Library staff.
Contribute to branch leadership and daily operations.
Work with Council teams on history-related projects.
Skills & Experience:
Passion for research and local history.
Experience managing physical and digital collections.
Ability to deliver engaging programs and presentations.
Skilled communicator for varied audiences.
Strong relationship-building skills.
Organised and able to juggle multiple projects.
Leadership and staff supervision experience.
Relevant tertiary qualification in history, social sciences, journalism, communications, teaching, libraries or research (Local or Applied History is a bonus).

You’ll hold a tertiary qualification in a relevant field such as history, social sciences, journalism, communications, teaching, libraries or research.
Appointment is subject to a satisfactory criminal history check.
