Molycop is looking for an experienced Fitter to support the Maintenance team of our Rail Products department in Waratah, Newcastle.
In this critical role, you will utilize your comprehensive mechanical and/or process knowledge to repair and maintain our plant and equipment, to ensure that Molycop can produce the highest quality and innovative products for our customers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Equipment breakdown diagnosis and fault-finding;
- Preventative maintenance activities to enhance reliability:
- Safely executing breakdown repair of equipment;
- Simple mechanical planning;
- Data capture in CMMS (asset management software); and
- Working closely with other trade disciplines and operators.
There are also opportunities to develop on the job including formal skills training plus experience in project and shutdown planning and execution. All of this and more which is carried out in a well-structured, supportive team environment.
Initially the role would be on daywork but also provide relief shift coverage. The hourly base wage rate ranges from $42.89-$48.17 depending on experience, plus 10% shift loading for certain rosters, and overtime also available – overall a very attractive remuneration package for these roles.

About you
Successful candidates will have:
- Strong mechanical experience and knowledge;
- Experience working with hydraulics and pneumatics;
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces;
- Effective communication skills;
- Experience working in an industrial maintenance environment;
- Certificate III Mechanical Trade or equivalent qualification;
- Certificate III in Boilermaking desirable but not essential;
- An understanding of reliability/engineering strategies such as condition monitoring and preventative maintenance;
- A friendly, positive can-do attitude; and
- Demonstrated commitment to working safely and leading by example.
You must also have current and valid Australian working rights.
