Maintenance Specialist
The Maintenance Specialist plays a key role in supporting frontline maintenance execution across fixed plant operations. Drawing on deep trade experience, this role provides practical support during breakdowns, assists in complex repairs, and ensures timely fault resolution to minimise equipment downtime. It focuses on improving Mean Time to Repair (MTTR), resolving recurrent equipment issues, and delivering safe and effective maintenance outcomes. This position acts as a technical mentor to trades personnel and ensures a high standard of workmanship is maintained across all tasks.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- ensure compliance with all site safety systems, statutory requirements, and company standards;
- identify opportunities for improvement and implement changes to optimise plant availability;
- ensure compliance with site safety policies, procedures, and statutory requirements;
- provide hands-on support during breakdowns to assist in rapid equipment recovery and reduce MTTR;
- execute or guide complex repairs and maintenance tasks to ensure safe and reliable operation;
- participate in fault investigations and assist in implementing corrective actions;
- mentor and support less experienced trades personnel in maintenance standards and techniques;
- assist in validating job scopes, tooling requirements, and work packs prior to execution;
- collaborate with engineers and planners to provide practical feedback on task improvements; and
- ensure compliance with all site safety requirements, isolation procedures, and permit systems.
About the Candidate
- trade certificate in Mechanical Fitting, Boilermaking (as relevant);
- certificate IV in Mechanical or Electrical (Post Trade) or equivalent (desirable);
- strong diagnostic and fault-finding capabilities on fixed plant equipment;
- practical experience with mechanical and/or electrical systems in a mining environment;
- ability to lead or mentor other trades during breakdown or shutdown activities;
- proficient in reading technical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals;
- familiar with maintenance systems such as SAP;
- attention to detailed and strong documentation practices;
- ability to prioritise tasks in high-pressure operational environments;
- safety-focused with a strong understanding of risk management in maintenance activities;
- results-driven mindset with the ability to prioritise tasks in a high-paced environment;
- high attention to detail and analytical problem-solving capabilities; and
