The Manager, Inquiries and System Reform leads a small team with specialist skills in inquiries to conduct mandated child death inquiries, and systemic and individual inquiries initiated by the Commissioner and/or requested by the Minister. The Commission's inquiries focus on improving state systems for vulnerable children and young people, including the child protection system and out-of-home care.
This work involves collecting information and data, including through interviews and other methodologies, conducting analysis of policies, legislation, service provision and systems, developing options for reform, formulating recommendations, and writing clear, succinct and compelling reports. This area also monitors and reports on the implementation of inquiry recommendations. The manager will lead staff in preparing timely, high quality reports, and lead relationships with stakeholders and review recipients to advocate for the rights and wellbeing of children and young people.
In this role you will:
- Manage and lead the Inquiries and System Reform team, ensuring that individual and team responsibilities are clear, performance is managed and outcomes delivered
- Lead the development, documentation and implementation of processes and procedures to ensure inquiries are undertaken efficiently and effectively
- Provide quality assurance across the work of the team, ensuring all reports, correspondence and other documentation are delivered to a high standard
- Lead and conduct inquiries, including the allocation of resources and managing timelines
- Lead the development of internal systems and capacity to analyse themes and trends in the Commission's inquiries
- Develop reports and inquiry documentation in a contemporary and accessible style
- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
About You
The successful candidate will have proven people and project management skills. An understanding of inquiries methodology will also be highly regarded. The Manager will also have strong stakeholder skills and an ability to influence in complex operational environments.
