About the Role
Reporting to the Director Infrastructure Delivery, this role is responsible for managing the Waste Facility located in Narrabri, and the eight transfer stations across our shire. As our Waste and Environmental Services Manager, you will lead a dedicated team, focusing on strategic, financial and environmental performance. It is a pivotal role, responsible for developing and managing integrated waste whilst ensuring relevant legislation and compliance is adhered to.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Develop, implement, review and update strategic documents, reports, plans and programs relating to sustainability and the natural environment
  • Deliver financial savings through close monitoring of the annual budget
  • Participate in community consultation meetings and actively seek community input to develop work programs
  • Strong customer focus, with the ability to improve customer experience and expectations
About You
We are seeking a proactive and strategic leader to oversee the delivery of integrated waste and environmental services. Our ideal candidate is a driven individual, who will demonstrate and promote Councils values to build and maintain unity across the organisation.
Additionally, our candidate will possess:
  • Degree level qualification in a relevant field
  • Knowledge of WHS legislation relating to waste operations
  • Project management and delivery experience
  • Effective verbal skills, and excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • A commitment to mentoring and coaching the waste team, to refine skills for career progression
  • Demonstrated experience in building and monitoring operational and capital budgets
