Responsibilities

Perform tasks under the direction of the Supervisor Works and/or Leading Hand to preserve, maintain and improve Shire infrastructure, equipment, and land under Shire control.
Strive for continuous improvement in the workplace and contribute positively as a member of the Works and Services team.
Be committed to the ethos – “getting the job done in an efficient, safe and timely manner”.
To strive to achieve the goals and objectives of the Shire’s vision and values of the plan for the future.
To comply with the Shire’s risk management and work health and safety policies and procedures
Operate a wide range of Shire plant and equipment in a safe and efficient manner for construction and maintenance tasks of Shire infrastructure.
Perform general labouring, traffic control and other associated work in a safe and efficient manner for the construction and maintenance of Shire infrastructure.
Promote and encourage safety awareness and ensure a safe working environment for self and others.
Undertake administrative duties including completion of timesheets, plant, pre-start checks, reporting of plant defects and recording of job specific and safety documentation.
About You
Current ‘HC’ class driver’s licence or ability to obtain one.
Demonstrated experience in safe and efficient operation of typical road construction plant and equipment, such as Rollers, Trucks, Watercarts, Excavators and Loaders.
Willingness, physical capacity and fitness to carry out key duties of the position including manual labour.
Ideally, holding some or all of the following qualifications / certificates:
Construction Safety Awareness Training Card (White card)
Chainsaw Operation Certification
Traffic Controller Certification
First Aid Certification
Work Health and Safety awareness
