Job Description
- 2 x Part-time roles (2 days per week each) - 18 month contracts
- Based at headspace Knox on the lands of the Wurundjeri People
- $34–$38 p/hr + 12% Super + Salary Packaging up to $18,550
Your story matters – use it to create change.
At headspace Knox, we believe lived experience is one of the most powerful tools for connection. As a Youth Multicultural Peer Worker, you’ll use your own mental health journey to walk alongside culturally diverse young people, break down stigma, and help them feel seen, supported, and empowered.
Your role. Your impact.
These part-time roles are grounded in Intentional Peer Support (IPS) principles – connection, worldview, mutuality, and moving toward. You’ll build genuine relationships with culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) young people, share your story safely and purposefully, and create inclusive spaces where help-seeking feels possible.
Reporting to the Community Engagement Coordinator, you’ll:
- Offer one-on-one peer support and co-facilitate CALD peer groups
- Collaborate on culturally responsive events and social campaigns
- Work within local communities – including schools, festivals, and sports clubs
- Use your experience to advocate for inclusive, youth-led mental health support
- Help reduce stigma and strengthen belonging for Chinese, Sri Lankan and Indian communities in particular
Who we’re looking for
You might be studying, working part-time, or exploring what’s next – but you know your lived experience and cultural background are powerful assets. We're looking for people who:
- Identify with Chinese, Indian, or Sri Lankan heritage (language skills are a bonus!)
- Understanding of IPS or commitment to complete IPS Core Training.
- Have lived experience of mental health challenges and feel safe to share parts of that story with others
- Are passionate about creating safe, welcoming spaces for CALD young people
- Have great communication skills and want to learn more about peer work, group facilitation, or community engagement
- Are happy to work from both the office and in the local community – sometimes after hours or on weekends
We strongly encourage applications from young people aged 18-25 who bring lived experience and cultural insight to this role. As this position is designed to support young people from multicultural backgrounds, peer relatability is essential. We welcome applicants with a deep understanding of cultural diversity and the ability to connect authentically with young people navigating mental health challenges.
What will make you stand out?
- Experience working or volunteering in community, mental health, or youth settings
- Completion (or interest in completing) Intentional Peer Support or Cert IV in Peer Work, Youth Work, Community Services or Mental Health
- Creativity in co-designing events, group activities, or social media campaigns
What’s in it for you
At Each, we’ll support you to be your best with:
✔ A welcoming, values-aligned team – work with people who truly care
✔ Purposeful work – help CALD young people feel safe to be themselves
✔ Flexibility and growth – explore peer work with real training and mentorship
✔ Not-for-profit salary packaging – Maximise your income with tax-free benefits up to $18,550
✔ A place to use your voice – help shape inclusive youth mental health services
