The role
We’re looking for a marketer who thrives at the intersection of strategy, creativity, and analytics. As our new Paid & Performance Marketing Specialist, you’ll take the reins of our paid media strategy, optimising every dollar we spend to deliver measurable growth. You’ll bring your experience running high-performing B2B campaigns and pair it with a curiosity for testing new channels, creative ideas, and cutting-edge tools.
Why this role exists
Paid and performance marketing is a core component of how we go to market and acquire customers today. This opportunity arises from our current and long-service paid lead exiting the business after deciding to pursue a career change. Thus strong foundations of a paid program already exist and we’re looking for someone dynamic and driven to take over the reigns and continue to evolve the execution. This means a candidate who will actively test, learn, and optimise campaigns in real time - driving lead generation, pipeline growth, and customer acquisition.
This role will be supported by a sizable and experienced marketing team of 5 people across field, customer, growth and content. As well as strong leadership buy-in from our CEO down. This area is something we’re really excited about, and we’re confident we have the right structure in place to support this role.
What will you own?
Campaign Strategy & ROI Optimisation
- Develop and execute multi-channel, ROI-focused campaigns that drive measurable business outcomes with the support of agency
- Optimise full-funnel performance in a long B2B sales cycle, from lead to customer conversion.
- With leadership support, build and manage paid budget allocation, forecasting spend across channels based on CAC, LTV, and payback period.
- Conduct competitive analysis to identify spend patterns, messaging gaps, and market opportunities.
Ad Channel Management
- Lead Search Marketing campaigns (Google Ads, Microsoft Ads) with a focus on high-intent B2B keywords and conversion optimisation.
- Manage Paid Social (LinkedIn for precision targeting, Meta for retargeting/content amplification).
- Test and learn Programmatic & Display (DSPs) for ABM and retargeting.
- Test and scale Emerging & Niche Channels (podcasts, newsletters, sponsorships).
- Consider Native & Content Syndication strategies (Taboola, Outbrain, industry media) where opportunistic.
Data, Tracking & Automation
- Own conversion tracking (Google Tag Manager, HubSpot, CRM integrations).
- Run A/B and multivariate testing across ads, landing pages, and CTAs.
- Manage marketing automation workflows in HubSpot, Customer.io, or similar.
- Segment audiences with custom intent data, lookalike modelling, and CRM targeting.
- Analyse campaign results using GA4, Looker Studio, Metabase, and HubSpot reports.
Creative & Messaging
- Write and contribute to compelling ad copy for CFOs, finance managers, and business owner personas.
- Translate complex fintech features into simple, benefit-led messaging.
- Ensure compliance with ASIC, AFCA, and Google Ads requirements for financial services advertising in Australia.
Collaboration & Continuous Learning
- Align marketing campaigns with sales goals through close sales collaboration.
- Work cross-functionally with design, compliance, and other marketing teams.
- Stay ahead of platform changes, AI marketing trends, and new channel opportunities.
What will you bring?
- 3–4 years’ experience in a paid media, performance marketing, or growth marketing role (in-house or agency).
- Proven success in driving ROI-positive campaigns across search, paid social, and display.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in budget management, forecasting, and funnel optimisation.
- Proficiency with Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, LinkedIn Ads, Google Tag Manager, GA4, and marketing automation platforms.
- Experience with CRM-integrated tracking and multi-touch attribution models.
- Excellent collaboration skills, particularly with sales and cross-functional teams.
Bonus Point (but don’t get hung up on them)
- Experience in fintech, SaaS, or B2B marketing specifically targeting CFOs and finance decision-makers.
- Knowledge of Australian financial advertising compliance (ASIC, AFCA, and Google Ads requirements for financial services advertising in Australia)
- Understanding of payments, expense management, or AP automation trends.
- Familiarity with programmatic advertising, native content syndication, and emerging B2B channels.
What does success look like after 12 months?
- Progress to paid marketing lead in the business and set the strategic agenda of the budget and program to support the organisation’s GTM goals.
- Be the go-to expert in Weel when it comes to paid and performance marketing strategy, execution, as well as the latest industry platforms and trends.
