About your new role

The Payroll Analyst is a senior member of the Payroll Team, responsible for the processing of the City’s payroll to ensure the accurate and timely payment of all employees. This role serves as the first point of escalation for payroll-related queries and issues, providing expert advice and resolution support to the Payroll Officers and other stakeholders.

The Payroll Analyst manages the complete pay run process, ensuring accuracy, compliance and adherence to legislative requirements, The City’s complex Industrial Framework and internal policies. The role provides expert advice on complex payroll matters, including terminations, superannuation, leave entitlements and the interpretation and application of payroll rules and conditions.

The Payroll Analyst plays a critical role in maintaining payroll integrity, troubleshooting complex issues and supporting continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency, accuracy and compliance of the payroll function.

Position responsibilities include:
  • Lead the payroll process to ensure the accurate and timely payment of all employees in line with legislative, industrial and policy requirements.
  • Act as first point of escalation for complex payroll queries, providing expert guidance and resolution.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for terminations, superannuation, leave entitlements, and payroll rules ensuring correct interpretation and application.
  • Maintain payroll data integrity through regular checks, reconciliations and reviews.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, awards, certified agreement and internal policy.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to provide accurate payroll information and reporting.
  • Support audits and reviews by providing required payroll data, explanation and documentation.
  • Maintain payroll integrity, troubleshoot some complex issues and support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency, accuracy and compliance of the payroll function.

We’re looking for people who have:
  • Diploma in Payroll or equivalent knowledge and experience
