About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Financial Control Manager, the Payroll Lead will oversee CleanCo’s payroll function, ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of all regular and one-off payments, financial reconciliations, and compensation reviews.
In this role, you’ll lead and develop a small team, drive process improvements, and ensure payroll services are delivered effectively across both corporate employees and site-based EA employees. You’ll also partner closely with the wider Performance, Risk & Finance group, building strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external providers to align payroll operations with CleanCo’s strategic goals.
This is a permanent full-time position based in our Brisbane office with the flexibility to work from home two days a week.
About you
- Proven experience leading a payroll function, ideally within the energy sector or a government-owned corporation.
- Strong knowledge of payroll, tax, and superannuation legislation, with the ability to provide accurate and trusted payroll advice.
- A keen eye for detail, ensuring correct payment of entitlements including bonuses, overtime, penalties, and allowances in line with relevant Enterprise Agreements (EAs).
- Confidence in interpreting and applying EAs and acting as a reliable contact during their negotiation and development.
- A track record of implementing process improvements and embedding financial protocols to support compliance and best practice.
- Expertise in interpreting and applying tax and superannuation legislation to ensure accurate calculations and payments.
- Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting, or Business (or equivalent experience).
- Strong systems capability, with experience in Accurri and SAP S/4 Hana highly regarded.
