    As a department our purpose is to help the community to prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from the impact of fire and emergency events.

    Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is the primary provider of fire, rescue and emergency management programs and services throughout Queensland. The department encompasses the Fire and Rescue Service, disaster management services, the Rural Fire Service and the State Emergency Service, and also supports other volunteer groups providing emergency response to Queenslanders.

    QFES is one department with many services, many capabilities and many partners.

    Purpose of the role

    The Workforce Experience Unit is focused on ensuring positive workforce experiences through shared values of trust, loyalty, respect, integrity and courage. The team leads the workforce experience program and workforce engagement functions. In addition to their advisory role, the team investigates, supports and assesses the culture, engagement and change management initiatives QFES has developed, implemented or integrated across the department, including analysing and delivering the workforce surveys to all levels of the organisation.

    Reporting to the Executive Manager, you will be a key member of the team contributing to workplace engagement plans, organisational culture and change management capability. You will be responsible for developing, monitoring and delivering project plans, resources and programs, and supporting large scale and complex culture change activities to align with the QFES strategic plan and business objectives. You will also be required to build organisational capability and workforce experience with a focus on organisational development and change management, including the integration and implementation of workforce experience principles and practices into business-as-usual activities.

    Key requirements

    Highly desirable requirements
    * Tertiary-level qualifications in organisational psychology, human resources or data analytics.
    * Previous experience as an organisational development practitioner or survey program manager in a similar organisational environment.

    Your key accountabilities

    Your part in the ongoing success of our department, in supporting key frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to:
    * Lead enterprise-wide projects that contribute to the enhancement of the department's organisational culture and positive workforce experiences, and identify and implement improvement initiatives to enhance workforce capabilities.
    * Provide strategic advice and consultancy on workforce experience or culture transformation to support complex organisational change and transformation activities, including impact assessments and workforce engagement planning.
    * Undertake research, environmental scanning, benchmarking, focus groups, co-design, engagement, workforce opinion surveys and organisational performance analysis to enhance capability.
    * Lead the development of a values-based culture, centred around positive workforce experiences that enhances organisational agility and resilience to meet departmental and community needs into the future.
    * Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to identify and access information and resources relevant to activities and projects to achieve strategic outcomes.
    * Develop and deliver reports, actions plan and presentations that include performance measures, recommendations and critical information to enable evidence-based decision making.
    * Engage with senior management and QFES staff and volunteers to understand their shared and individual experiences and assess organisational change impacts, readiness, risks and issues for various business change initiatives.
