The Opportunity

Are you ready to step into a senior WHS role where you can assist in shaping the future of workplace safety and wellbeing in a dynamic public sector agency? PIRSA is seeking an experienced Principal WHS Business Partner to join our People and Culture Branch and drive strategic, proactive WHS and wellbeing initiatives across the Department.

In this pivotal role, you will build strong partnerships with PIRSA Divisions, providing expert guidance and innovative WHS solutions that support safe and high-performing, business operations. You will be a trusted advisor to divisional leaders and managers, delivering coaching, insight, and strategic advice to align WHS priorities with business objectives.

Your expertise in WHS management systems, risk mitigation, and innovative safety practices will be essential in influencing positive safety outcomes, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring PIRSA meets its legislative and policy obligations.

Experience in the delivery of injury-management related services, monitoring contractor performance and coaching and mentoring others will be highly valued.

About You

You are an experienced WHS professional with proven business acumen who thrives in collaborative environments, coupled with a strong ability to build trusted partnerships across all levels of the Department. You bring a proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a deep understanding of risk management, WHS systems, and wellbeing programs.

You will work closely with PIRSA’s People and Culture team, in the development and implementation of critical initiatives in risk management, WHS program development, wellbeing strategies, and return to work support. Your collaboration with the Human Resources, Industrial Relations, and Organisational Development team’s will be key to driving organisational success.

Reporting to the Manager, Workplace Safety and Wellbeing, you will contribute significantly to ensuring robust systems are in place to identify, assess, and control WHS risks. You will also play a vital role in the development of WHS plans and priorities, driving the implementation of new initiatives, and promoting a positive, proactive safety culture and enhancing workforce wellbeing across PIRSA.

Special Conditions

  • Successful applicant will be required to satisfactorily complete a National Police Check (NPC) prior to being made an offer of employment.
  • Australian residency or current works permit is required (responsibility of applicant to provide evidence of a current work permit).

  • The incumbent will be required to undertake emergency management training and must be willing to participate in emergency preparedness, response and recovery activities required by government agencies.

Qualifications

  • Essential: Nil
  • Desirable: Relevant qualifications in Work, Health and Safety, Psychological Sciences, Business and/or Human Resources or post graduate studies in leadership or business management are considered highly desirable.

Remuneration

ASO7 - $108,109 min - $116,864 max per annum, plus superannuation
