Our Financial Control team play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of EnergyAustralia’s financial results. As a Project Controller, you’ll support major projects from start to finish, helping shape investment estimates, manage funding requests, and deliver insightful financial reporting and forecasting.
Project Controller (24 Month Contract)
You’ll work closely with the Operations Financial Controller to establish strong financial controls, analyse variances, and take ownership of general ledger outcomes across a portfolio of exciting initiatives. This is a fantastic opportunity to build your finance career while contributing to high-impact projects in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Co-ordinate the month-end close for the allocated project(s), including journal processing.
- Review and analyse profit and loss and balance sheet positions prior to the monthly close to ensure reasonableness.
- Engage regularly with contacts across the project community to ensure the general ledger is prepared appropriately.
- Support half-year and year end requirements including the preparation of CLP schedules and auditor requests
- Provide financial accounting support to project managers and commercial finance personnel including providing ongoing support in tracking actuals, providing meaningful variance analysis and other ad-hoc analysis and reporting as required. Support will include (but not be limited to) investment proposals and capex/opex classifications.
- Own and develop cost tracking tools to support standardised application by project managers
- Provide induction training and ongoing support to Project staff in relation to project methodology and project reporting requirements.
- Undertake forecasting and budgeting for projects as agreed with the Commercial Finance team. Provide support to the Project office/transformation office in managing the overall project portfolio of the company
- Attend relevant project meetings and act as the focal point for all finance issues related to the allocated project(s)
How can you support the Clean Energy Transition
- Tertiary qualification in either Commerce, Accounting or Finance
- CA or CPA qualified
- At least 5 years experience in industry, in a finance role
- Sound knowledge of financial systems (SAP highly regarded)
- Strong communication skills to senior leadership and project teams
- Ability to operate in complex group structures
- Highly self-motivated, flexible and adaptable
- Demonstrated ability to develop strong relationships across the business and work cross-functionally
- Proven ability to deliver ongoing process improvements
