About the role
Are you an experienced professional seeking a meaningful opportunity to lead the facilities and property management of some of Sydney’s most iconic civic assets? The City of Sydney is looking for a motivated and capable individual to join our team as a Property Asset Manager, with a strong focus on operational building performance, compliance, tenant engagement, and long-term asset value.
The City of Sydney has undergone a significant transformational change within Property Services, redefining how we manage our diverse property portfolio to deliver greater value, improved service delivery, and stronger community outcomes. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a dynamic and forward-thinking team, helping to shape the next generation of property services for the City.
Make a Real Impact in the Community
Your work at the City will directly support the delivery of essential community services — from libraries and cultural venues to community centres and recreational spaces. By ensuring our buildings are safe, sustainable, and well-managed, you’ll play a key role in supporting Sydney’s diverse communities and enhancing their experience of public spaces. This is more than a job — it’s a chance to give back to the community and create a positive legacy through the built environment.
The City manages over 1,500 property interests valued at more than $2.7 billion, including heritage-listed civic buildings, commercial properties, and community infrastructure. As a Property Asset Manager, you will take ownership of a portfolio of assets and be responsible for both the facilities and property management aspects that contribute to service excellence and asset performance. We are seeking candidates with an ability to think commercially and strategically, capable of balancing community outcomes with operational efficiency, risk management, and financial sustainability.
Key responsibilities include:
- lead day-to-day facilities management of your assigned buildings, ensuring operational reliability, safety, and regulatory compliance
- oversee planned and reactive maintenance programs, manage contractor performance, and support capital upgrades
- manage leases, licenses, and tenant relationships, ensuring property and contractual obligations are met
- prepare and manage budgets, monitor operating costs, and contribute to lifecycle forecasting and capital planning
- deliver building condition assessments and contribute to strategic asset management planning
- use the City’s Property Management Information Systems to drive data-informed decision-making and ensure accurate, reliable records
- collaborate across teams to support integrated service delivery and positive tenant and community outcomes.
We’re looking for someone with:
- tertiary qualifications in Property or Facility Management or significant experience managing building assets at a senior level
- strong financial management skills including budgeting, reporting and cost control across property portfolios
- experience with property management systems and maintaining accurate and compliant records
- well-developed stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work closely with tenants, regulators and the community.
This is an exciting time to join Property Services at the City of Sydney. You’ll work alongside a passionate and professional team committed to innovation, service quality, and sustainable asset management.
This role has the option of a rostered day off each month, known as a 19-day month.
The recommended applicant must complete a pre-employment health declaration and criminal history check.
Applications must be submitted online by 11:59pm, Friday 15th August.
