About the Opportunity
To lead the Regulatory Services Operations team in the delivery of statutory and educational services, achieving compliance and excellent customer service and promoting good social behaviour in the community.
Working with the Regulatory Services Manager, the Regulatory Services Operations Coordinator is responsible for the leadership and management of a range of programs and services that contribute to the delivery of the City of Palmerston Community Plan including:
- Animal Management by-law enforcement
- Public Places by-law enforcement
- Signs, Hoardings and Advertising by-law enforcement
- Parking Regulation enforcement
- Regulatory Services Education Program support
- By-law Investigation, Legal Brief and Prosecution
- Liquor Application review and response
- Education and Policy initiatives
About You
We are looking for a person with the following:
- Diploma in law, public policy, compliance or other related fields or extensive experience as a Ranger, By-laws Officer or in a similar position.
- High level animal management experience with a concise understanding of animal welfare and community education approaches.
- Proven experience in managing a team in a regulatory environment.
- Ability to interpret, adhere to, follow, and regulate relevant Northern Territory Government and Council legislation and policies.
- Sound knowledge of the operations of Local Government and the functions of Regulatory Services.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to liaise with a wide cross section of people and manage business correspondence.
- Ability to develop procedures for the effective implementation of policy in a regulatory environment.
- Experience in budget management in the delivery of programs.
- Demonstrated experience in negotiation, assessment and problem solving to efficiently and appropriately resolve complex and sensitive issues.
- Experience working in a cross-cultural environment, especially with Indigenous communities.
- A positive attitude and commitment to deliver quality customer service.
- Willingness to attend weekend work, emergencies and out-of-hour duties as rostered or as required.
- A clear understanding of the role that Work, Health and Safety plays within the workplace coupled with a willingness to commit and adhere to Work, Health and Safety practices and policies.
