Come be a part of the 1st Korean BBQ in the Blue Mountains National Park.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our front of house team in providing an unforgettable cultural experience to locals and tourists alike.
As the first point of contact for our restaurant a great personality, exceptional customer service skills, presentation and high attention to detail are essential. An interest in Korean culture and cuisine would be advantageous. Ongoing support and training will be provided with a strong focus on the skills of Korean BBQ service.
Greeting customers, taking payments, managing reservations and managing hall staff are the main roles alongside other hall/bar work. Experience in hospitality/front of house hosting is preferred but not necessary. A dedicated work ethic, enthusiasm, good judgment and ability to work under pressure are most important.
Host/Hostess duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Greeting guests as they enter, confirming bookings or walk-ins and placing them on a waiting list as necessary.
- Providing guests with menus if requested/when required to wait and answering any initial questions.
- Organising the seating of guests at tables with a member of the hall staff team.
- Keeping table rotation in mind at all times unless assigning guests to tables they have requested.
- Engaging with guests to ensure that they are happy with their experience.
- Answering phone calls, taking reservations via OpenTable and answering questions.
- Responding to concerns and helping to resolve them.
- Observing bbq tables, side dish bar and customer movements.
- Consistently checking any dishes on the pass through have been served and table orders are complete.
- Managing front of house cleanliness at all times.
- Follow NSW liquor laws and monitor tables with alcoholic beverage orders.
- Instruct/direct hall staff when required.
- Bar duties - Serving of canned/bottled drinks, wine, lettuce and 4 cocktails. (Assistance provided by another hall staff member on busy shifts)
- Preparing our dessert. (Assistance provided by another hall staff member on busy shifts)
- Assisting team members with the duties below.
General team member duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Hall/Table Setup: Set up tables in the hall/dinning area with a focus on cleanliness and presentation. Ensuring all tables are equipped with menus and utensils and assist kitchen with preparation of side dishes and condiments before service.
- Guest Service: Greet guests with a warm and pleasant manner upon arrival. Ensure that customers receive knowledgable information about the menu, make recommendations and provide an authentic Korean BBQ experience.
- Knowledge of Menu: An understanding and enthusiasm for the menu will allow guests to make informed choices. Knowledge of ingredients, preparation methods and flavours including cuts of meat and condiment pairings.
- Taking Orders: Efficiently take and process food and beverage orders on a mobile POS system. Training will be provided! Attention to special requests and dietary requirements when necessary. Confidence in suggesting additional menu items to enhance the dinning experience and increase sales.
- Food & Beverage Service: Serve food promptly and confidently with attention to table placement. Prepare and serve beverages including soft drinks, alcoholic drinks and cocktails. Monitor orders and coordinate with kitchen staff/management to ensure an efficient service.
- Hall/Table Maintenance: Assist guests in the cooking of BBQ menu items. Regularly monitor tables with a focus on replenishing condiments and water, removing empty plates and replacing grill plates/gas bottles when required.
- Payment Handling: Process bills efficiently, handle cash and electronic payments accurately.
- Work Together: Working with fellow wait staff, kitchen staff and management will ensure a smooth service and enjoyable experience for both yourself and customers. Most importantly, enjoy your work!
- Adhere to Standards: Maintain a high level of self-presentation and professionalism at all times. Follow house policy and NSW liquor laws and ensure cleanliness, safety and duty of care.
The successful applicants will/may have:
- (Required) Current RSA certificate.
- (Preferably) An interest in Korean culture/cuisine
- (Preferably) A minimum of 1 year of experience in guest services within the restaurant, hotel or tourism industry.
- NSW Food Safety Supervisor Certificate an advantage.
- NSW Liquor Approved Manager Licence an advantage.
- OpenTable experience an advantage.
- Previous experience in an A La Carte environment an advantage.
- Greeting & seating guests, Cash handling experience.
- Advanced verbal communication skills.
- A genuine passion for food, people and the overall hospitality experience.
- Impeccable presentation, hygiene and grooming standards.
- Attention to detail with the ability to work in a fast paced environment.
- Flexible availability over a 6 day rotating roster.
