Role Summary
OSA Opportunity
Safety and Compliance Manager
(Perth Based)
This role reports directly to the Sr. Manager, Safety & Compliance - APAC.
It is responsible for leading the safety and compliance department and must provide safety and compliance guidance to both the local management team and the corporate organization.
Key Responsibilities
Safety & Compliance duties:
- Liaise with customers and vendors on quality matters
- Liaise with the regulator on safety and quality matters
- Responsible for the organization’s quality audit program
- Ensure that issues affecting quality are investigated, tracked, and monitored
- Ensure all findings are monitored and that corrective and preventive actions are completed
- Influence the business to address quality and product safety issues
- Ensure compliance with the organization’s Safety Management System
- Monitor all pertinent proactive and reactive safety reports and, where necessary, ensure appropriate support to deliver follow-up action is taken.
- Manage the certification authorities (MCA) by policies and procedures
- Ensure that Service Difficulty Reports are submitted to the regulatory authorities.
- Responsible for the monitoring and updating of the SMS database
Regulatory Compliance duties:
- Responsible to the Accountable Manager for safety
- Act as the primary liaison between the company and regulatory authorities
- Ensure that compliance documentation and certificates meet regulatory requirements and business needs
- Ensure that the quality audit plan covers all activities under the scope of approval of the organization and escalates issues that require management intervention
Health, Environment, Safety and Security duties:
- Oversee HESS compliance and ensure safety promotion & legislative requirements are met
- Monitor and oversee the Emergency Response Plan
May include other duties as required
Qualifications, Skills & Attributes
Required Qualifications (Education, Qualifications, Certifications)
Essential
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in an operational environment
- Accredited training in aviation safety management disciplines
- Incident investigator qualification
- Lead auditor qualification
- Possess or have held professional aviation accreditations such as pilot licenses, maintenance engineer licenses, responsible person approval from an NAA
- Ability to travel internationally:
- University degree or aviation trade in a technical discipline
Skills/Experience: (Essential)
- Working knowledge of quality tools and ICAO Annex 19
- Knowledge of regulations applicable to the organization
- Experience as part of or leading an incident investigation
- Knowledge of MS Office Software
- Experience with SMS
Skills/Experience: (Desirable)
- Demonstrated experience in the rotary wing air operator environment.
- Demonstrated experience in fixed-wing or general aviation environments.
- Demonstrated experience in Health, Safety and Environmental Management
