About the role
Reporting to the Director – Workforce, Safety and Wellbeing this role leads a multidisciplinary team of 4 direct reports with 25 staff across key portfolios: Performance & Conduct, Strategy & Capability, Workplace Health & Safety and HR Operations (Payroll, Talent Acquisition etc).
Key Responsibilities include:
- Leading a cohesive, high-performing HR function in a complex environment
- Embedding people systems and streamlining HR operations
- Enhancing team culture and stakeholder confidence through empathetic, hands-on leadership
- Supporting EB negotiations and ensuring legislative and policy compliance
- Building relationships with school principals and leaders across the region
- Proven ability to lead organisation-wide initiatives that strengthen culture, build trust, and promote staff wellbeing across all levels of the organisation.
About You
You are an experienced HR leader with a broad generalist background and a passion for people and culture. You bring:
- Experience leading across Performance & Conduct, Strategy & Capability, Workplace Health & Safety and HR Operations (Payroll, Talent Acquisition etc)
- A collaborative, coaching leadership style with a calm, confident presence and a ‘can do’ attitude
- Demonstrated success in leading organisation-wide initiatives that enhance workplace culture, foster trust, and champion staff wellbeing at every level
- Experience supporting EB negotiations or complex workforce matters
- A track record of team development, process improvement, and cultural uplift
- An appreciation for values-led workplaces and the mission of Catholic education
Experience in education or faith-based sectors is not essential—but a commitment to embracing and upholding these values is.
