About the Opportunity

Fairfield Hospital is seeking a dedicated and professional Security Officer to join our team in a permanent full-time capacity. In this vital role, you’ll help maintain a safe and secure environment for staff, patients, and visitors by responding to emergencies, managing incidents, and supporting hospital operations. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you’ll play a key role in early intervention, prevention, and resolution of security-related issues, while upholding the highest standards of customer service and professionalism.

From conducting patrols and responding to alarms, to assisting with emergency evacuations and escorting staff and visitors, your contribution will be essential to the smooth functioning of the hospital. You’ll also operate security systems, manage access controls, and support violence prevention strategies in line with NSW Health policies. What You'll be Doing
Security staff work as part of a team, in collaboration with other staff, to assist with managing patients, to provide assistance to visitors, and to assist with protecting staff and securing the assets of South Western Sydney Local Health District.

The emphasis of the role in NSW Health is on assisting with the early identification, prevention and management of incidents. The Security staff provide a safe environment for staff, patients and visitors according to work health and safety legislation.

It is expected that security staff provide the highest possible standard of customer service and professionalism at all times.

NOTE: Security staff, like other NSW Health staff, must contact the police if there is suspected criminal activity on or around a NSW Health premises.

Security staff must not place themselves, or be expected by others to place themselves, at unnecessary risk in carrying out their duties. Where there are concerns about public safety the police should be called.

Fairfield hospital is located in one of NSW’s largest LGA’s and is a hub of diverse cultures, ethnicities and socioeconomic backgrounds. The hospital sits close to public transport (T-Way), Public Schools, a major shopping centre and has an onsite cafeteria. Ample onsite parking is available with only a short walk from the carpark to the hospital.

How to Apply
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria as thoroughly as possible.

  • Current NSW Security Licence in accordance with the NSW Security Industry 1997 Class 1A, First Aid Certification and an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
  • Can you demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills that support teamwork and accurate record-keeping in a fast-paced environment?
  • Do you have experience applying security techniques such as conflict resolution, de-escalation, and restraint, and can you work independently within a multidisciplinary team?
  • Detail your experience with electronic security systems, computer literacy, and working across a 7-day rotating roster. How do these skills support your ability to meet the operational needs of a hospital environment?
