The role
The Tax Analyst assists the Tax team with tax affairs for entities in the ANZ Region and their network of global branches and subsidiaries. This position supports tax compliance matters including income tax return preparation and consolidation of the SMEC Group tax effect accounting for statutory and internal reporting. It will also support the provision of tax advice on projects.
This is a 12-month fixed-term role based out of our Melbourne office.
This position supports the Tax Managers and Tax Lead in reviewing the SMEC Group provisions to ensure that the Effective Tax Rate of the Group is monitored, managed and clearly communicated to senior stakeholders.
The Tax Analyst will assist management of corporate, group and international tax affairs, with responsibility for the following key areas:
- Assist with preparation of all tax compliance obligations for entities in the Australia and New Zealand Region.
- Ensure Group Tax reporting is timely and accurate, including assistance with preparation of provisions as well as year-end reporting requirements.
- Assist with transfer pricing/BEPS/Pillar 2 requests and information analysis.
- Monitor and adhere to ANZ and Group policies, procedures, systems and controls for processes.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
With a track record of achievement in a similar role, you will have gained your experience in a company that has tax affairs covering both Australia and overseas. Suitable applicants will have/be:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- Succeed in a similar role within a corporate environment.
- Growing knowledge of organisation’s taxes, tax accounting procedures related to work performed.
- Understanding of spreadsheets, data analysis and reconciliation procedures.
- Deal appropriately with confidential/sensitive information.
- Establish strong business relationships within a group environment and beyond to ensure efficient delivery of outputs.
- To produce quality outcomes within an environment with competing demands and tight deadlines.
- Able to undertake some travel (domestic or international).
