Your Role in a Nutshell
As a Specialist DFV Advocate, you’ll be at the frontline of safety and support for individuals and families experiencing violence. You will:
- Assess risk, build safety plans, and provide crisis support
- Offer crisis counselling, court advocacy, and referrals to vital services
- Help women navigate Protection Orders and court systems
- Support access to housing and specialist services
- Work within a values-driven team committed to systemic change

What You Bring

Must-Have Experience & Qualifications
- A tertiary qualification (3 years) in a relevant human services field or 2+ years of DFV experience
- Working knowledge of key legislation: Domestic & Family Violence Act 2012, Child Protection Act 1999
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed care, intergenerational trauma, and advocacy
- High-level skills in case management, risk assessment, counselling, and crisis support
- Insight into how DFV affects children and the nuanced ways control is exercised
- Excellent communication, especially under pressure
Screening Requirements
- QLD Driver’s License (current)
- Blue Card – Working with Children Check
- National Police Check (we’ll cover this cost)
