Specialist – Training & HSE | Newly Created | Skybus Success Story

Work directly with the Executive General Manager WA and the Executive General Manager People & Safety to empower and support our teams, strengthen safety culture, and ensure our people deliver exceptional service to passengers.
About the role:
We are seeking a people-focused and proactive Specialist – Training and HSE to join our growing WA team. This role combines high-quality driver training delivery with hands-on guidance, mentoring, and safety leadership, providing practical advice and proactive support to leaders across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate engaging and supportive classroom training for new and experienced drivers, focusing on safety, customer service, and efficient vehicle operation
- Deliver on-road training to enable participants to gain their HR licence
- Assess driver competence and provide constructive, encouraging feedback for development
- Act as a mentor to drivers, fostering confidence and a positive learning environment
- Review, update and maintain Training and HSE data for accuracy and reporting
- Provide HSE coaching and advice to leaders, embedding a proactive safety culture
- Conduct safety walks, observations, and risk assessments to identify and address hazards
- Lead investigations into incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and preventative actions
- Support business initiatives, tenders, transitions, and projects with specialist input
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, contractual, and certification requirements through audits and inspections
About You:
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (required)
- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (required)
- Experience delivering heavy vehicle driver training, preferably in the bus industry
- Strong HSE knowledge with experience in investigations and practical safety leadership
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and problem-solving skills
- High-level computer literacy and data management skills
- Certificate IV in Motor Vehicle Driver Training (Heavy Vehicle) (desirable)
