About the Opportunity


As a Sterilisation Technician working within Bowral Hospital, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing clean, sterile, and disinfected items and equipment to clinical departments across the hospital
  • Preparing for daily operations and managing sterile stock rotation and control within the Operating Suite's sterile stock room
  • Reprocessing flexible endoscopes in a dedicated scope reprocessing room within Perioperative Services

About You
What we are looking for:

  • Certificate III in Sterilisation Services (mandatory)
  • Availability to work a rotating roster, including all shifts across weekdays, weekends, and public holidays
  • A solid understanding of Work Health & Safety (WHS) and infection control principles within the CSSD environment
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team, following the position description and hospital protocols
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure compliance with quality objectives and departmental standards

The hospital originally opened in 1889 and has undergone significant redevelopment, with the first stage completed in December 2020. This $123 million redevelopment includes a new Clinical Services Building with a modern emergency department, operating theatres, and inpatient wards. The ongoing second stage will further enhance outpatient services and include a new Aboriginal Dreaming Garden.

How to Apply

  • Certificate II or III in Health Service Assistance (Sterilisation Services) or equivalent, along with experience working in a Hospital Sterilising Services Department with sound knowledge and understanding of AS 5369: 2023, Infection Prevention and Control and WH&S requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently or as an integral team member under the guidance of a Staff Supervisor for the process of complex medical devices, including Orthopaedic loan equipment.
  • Ability to prioritise and communicate workload to achieve quality and timely process outcomes.
  • Sound communication ability with a high standard of written and verbal skills to ensure effective listening, understanding, and following directions.
  • Ability to work a rotating roster, including weekends and Public Holidays for the provision of a 7 day service to the Peri-Operative Services Department.
