Primary objective
Under the general direction of the Manager Supply Chain, the Supply Chain Officer is responsible for carrying out the physical and electronic
order, issue, receipt, and dispatch of items, as well as purchasing and paying for goods and services and inventory management.

Context statement
The position supports secure facilities that are operational 24/7; additional hours may be required in an emergency. The role involves physical
tasks such as manual handling, loading, and unloading of goods. The role involves working with and supervising prisoners.

Key duties and responsibilities
1. Ensure the Store is maintained and adequately stocked to support the Department of Corrections operations by accurately registering and

processing stock requests and recording all in and outbound items, including invoice management, receipt, picking, packing, dispatch, and
delivery.

2. Liaise with stakeholders to raise necessary purchase orders and requisitions from existing contracts and local and interstate markets (where
approved) when not available under existing contracts.

3. Ensure all purchases and payments are processed promptly, prepared, and registered per departmental policy, including correct cost centre
code, location, and delegate approvals.

4. Manage daily operational requirements of the Store’s distribution centre, including monitoring of stock lines and supervising prisoners during
warehouse activities.

5. Conduct stocktakes to ensure proper stock control and control records, including items subject to security registration and recording items
considered portable and attractive.

6. Ensure compliance with Work Health and Safety legislation and safety standards regarding chemical handling, fire equipment, walkie stacker,
and forklift operations in a store warehouse environment.

Selection criteria
Essential
1. Practical knowledge and experience with supply chain processes and procedures in a complex services environment, including computerised

and physical inventory management, financial and purchasing systems and stock control measures.
2. Practical knowledge of and ability to interpret purchasing and procurement polices and procedures or similar, and safety regulations in line

with relevant legislation, or ability to obtain promptly.
3. Proven skills in effectively using information communication technology systems and software including, accounting information systems,

software reporting tools, word processing, spreadsheets, and related software packages such as Microsoft Office or similar.
4. Ability to perform manual handling duties in a safe manner that is compliant with polices, practices and procedures.
5. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a small team with minimum supervision, use initiative and display sound

negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
6. Demonstrated organisational skills with the ability to be adaptable and flexible, work under pressure, manage own priorities and meet

deadlines.
7. Good oral and written communication and interpersonal skills across a broad and varied stakeholder group, including the ability to interact

effectively with Aboriginal Australians.
8. Current NT Driver’s licence and Forklift licence or ability to quickly acquire.
