Position Information

Northern Beaches Secondary College Balgowlah Boys Campus (enrolment 1140 students) is a comprehensive Year 7-12 boys' high school. The school has a commitment to innovative teaching to engage boys in their learning. Students are challenged to achieve their personal best in all aspects of their education in a caring learning environment. The school has an active Parents and Citizens Association which supports the school in its provision of resources and extracurricular activities. The school's reputation as a consistently high performing school stems from its drive for continual improvement. Balgowlah Boys Campus has been a lighthouse school for explicit teaching strategies to build a strong foundation in literacy and numeracy, including writing and critical thinking. The school is committed to fostering partnerships with cultural institutions, local businesses, community groups and universities to enrich the learning experience of its students and enable the best preparation for higher education and career pathways. The school is committed to continually improving classroom learning with teacher professional learning as the key driver. The school is developing its "Shared Practice", a collaborative professional learning plan of best practice to enable and enhance teacher efficacy. The school has a Teacher Mentor program to improve student engagement in stages 4 and 5. It is committed to continually improving effective classroom environment through quality teaching practices with teacher professional learning being the key to ensuring this.


Selection Criteria

Approval to teach Drama

Demonstrated ability to engage students in drama and co curricular drama opportunities including productions and performances

Ability to work as a part of a collaborative vibrant and creative learning community to build high quality engaging programs, content, and assessment.

Experience and/or willingness to teach Stage 6 Drama


Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
