About the role

National Parks and Wildlife Service has a unique opportunity for a Team Leader Rangers to work as part of the team and contribute towards the conservation of the natural environment, flora, fauna and Aboriginal heritage.

The Team Leader Rangers (TLR) reports directly to the Area Manager and is regarded a senior management role within the Area having significant influence in achieving conservation and community outcomes.  The Team Leader Rangers must have very strong communication skills to ensure information flow, planning and reporting is accurate, free flowing and timely. This role leads a team of professional Rangers and is responsible for assisting with the development of strategic operational plans, developing and maintaining a wide range of industry and community professional relationships and setting clear workplans for the Ranger team to achieve the agency’s goals.

The role is highly diverse which is mainly office based however some field work is required regularly to support your team. The TLR is expected to have a broad understanding of all the Area’s projects and be able to provide high level advice and support to the Rangers who directly report to them as well as the rest of the Area management team and the Branch management team.

We are looking for individuals who are passionate about conservation, land management and working collaboratively.  Your project planning skills will be key in juggling and meeting competing priorities, while your ability to motivate and influence your team will be the key to achieving outcomes in a busy and changing environment. This is a physically active role suited to candidates of all genders who are fit, enjoy working outdoors as part of a team, and are eager to learn and develop the skills and qualifications needed to contribute toward improving and maintaining some of NSW’s most precious natural places.  Applicants must meet the requirements of a firefighting medical which is inclusive of a clearance to undertake frontline firefighting roles. The applicant must pass the task based fitness assessment to a moderate level within the probationary period (up to 12 months) and annually thereafter.

The role holder must obtain certification at the appropriate level prior to undertaking firefighting/incident control duties.
