Technical Claims Manager
Are you a strategic leader with deep expertise in life insurance claims? MUFG Pension & Market Services, Retirement solutions business is seeking a Technical Claims Manager to drive the future of our insurance operations, delivering customer-focused claims solutions while shaping our broader insurance strategy.
About the role
As the Technical Claims Manager, you will play a pivotal role in setting the direction and delivering strategic objectives across MUFG Retirement Solutions business for Insurance operations team. You’ll leverage your expertise in claims handling to support our transformation projects and lead continuous improvement initiatives that enhance the customer experience.
This role will see you partner with senior leaders, industry experts, and cross-functional teams to build insurance capability, uplift knowledge across our business, and embed best practice across claims, underwriting, and our Insurance Claims Contact Centre.
12 months Fixed term contract | Reports to Head of Insurance Operations | Parramatta or Melbourne based
Key responsibilities
- Drive strategic direction and continuous improvement initiatives across insurance operations.
- Lead and mentor teams, fostering a high-performance, customer-centric culture.
- Develop and implement best practice claims handling with a focus on improved outcomes and reduced duration.
- Partner with industry peers to strengthen MUFG Retirement Solutions insurance capability and reputation as a thought leader.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks and embed strong risk management practices. Build collaborative relationships with key stakeholders to deliver aligned, customer-first solutions.
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- 5+ years’ leadership experience in Life Insurance operations within large, complex organisations with strong background in claims and/or underwriting in Life Insurance.
- Proven ability to lead change, manage ambiguity, and deliver transformation.
- Demonstrated capability in stakeholder engagement at senior levels.
- Exceptional leadership skills, with a track record of motivating and developing teams.
- Strong commercial acumen, analytical mindset, and problem-solving ability.
- Proven customer focus and a strategic mindset with excellent communication and negotiation skills. Commitment to quality, risk management, and customer-centric outcomes.
