About the Project
John Holland has been named as the preferred contractor to deliver the North-East Link, Hoddle St to Bourke Road package of works. The Eastern Hoddle Bourke Alliance (EHBA) is made up of John Holland, Seymour Whyte and design partners Mott MacDonald and Jacobs Group, in partnership with MRPV.
The scope of works includes upgrading six kilometres of the Freeway with new traffic lanes, bridge upgrades and urban noise walls, a dedicated busway (fully segregated from mainline traffic), and a new bridge over the Yarra River.
The NEL Project involves the design and construction of the upgrade of the Eastern Freeway from Hoddle Street in the west to Burke Road in the east, including:
6km of brownfield freeway widening to accommodate additional traffic lanes in each direction
3km dedicated busway separated from mainline traffic
Significant structures including 600m of bridges, including a 180m architectural steel shared use path bridge of the Yarra River
Freeway-wide scope including ITS, retaining walls, stormwater drainage, noise walls, lighting and signage
Site location to be around Chandler Highway / Eastern Freeway interchange.
About the Role
The primary objective of this position is to provide operational support on the NEL project to deliver effective HR services. The role will be responsible for ensuring smooth onboarding, effective training administration, and seamless coordination of various project programs as well as involvement in various activities including employee relations; performance; training and development; project coordination and onboarding.

What you will do;
- Support the onboarding of all staff into Damstra (Learning Management System LMS)
- Manage the training needs analysis (TNA) for project.
- Oversee the management of training and competency data.
- Maintaining employees’ training records on Damstra.
- Act as the subject matter expert on SWC systems (e.g., SharePoint, DAMSTRA, PSEM), offering guidance and support to subcontractors.
- Manage the accurate upkeep of employee training records and employee information, whilst maintaining confidentiality and sensitivity.
- Establish project training calendar, coordinate training locations and session times.
- Report on training and development outcomes.
- Working closely with Superintendents/Safety to schedule and manage safety training competency requirements.
- Oversee the booking of site familiarisations in Damstra.
- review any trends for project wide training requirements post the Performance development review (PDR).
- Structured development training programs and initiatives- responsible for managing this including finding providers, booking training.
- Support the People team with initiatives and programs (women of EHBA, R&R, yarning circle, NAWIC).
- Maintain accurate records of employee qualifications, ensuring compliance with project and industry standards.
- Monitor and follow up on any expiring qualifications to ensure continuity.
- Attend monthly meetings with the Project Owner’s skills and workforce development representatives.
- Provide assistance in the implementation of the onboarding process and platforms.
- Support new employees as directed during their on-boarding, which may include coordinating inductions.
- Establish good working relationships with the project team including subcontractors.
- Use appropriate systems and software to store and maintain employee’s personal records.
- Perform all duties in accordance with NEL policies, processes, systems, reporting and procedures.
What we are looking for;
Qualifications
- High School Certificate (HSC)
- Any suitable tertiary education.
- Certificate II, III or IV in Business Administration
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
Experience
- Demonstrated previous experience in a safety/training administration role.
- Knowledge of human resource practices and procedures.
- Proficient computer skills and knowledge of relevant software such as Microsoft Office Suite.
- A general understanding of the technology and systems associated with employee records management.
- Ability to build and develop good working relationships.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive and confidential information in a professional manner.
- Current Drivers Licence.
