About the Role

Newington College seeks a dynamic Visual Arts and Photographic Digital Media Teacher to commence at the beginning of Term 1, 2026.

Join our dedicated Visual Arts Department and become part of a collaborative team committed to fostering creativity and artistic growth across all year levels. We are seeking a passionate educator who values innovative teaching, embraces contemporary art practices, and is eager to inspire students in both practical and theoretical aspects of art.

The Visual Arts Department currently offers the mandatory Visual Arts courses at Years 7 and 8, elective Film Making in Year 8, Visual Arts and Photographic and Digital Media courses at Years 9 and 10, and the HSC and IB Visual Arts courses for Years 11 and 12.

As a member of our department, you will have access to well-resourced classrooms, a vibrant artist-in-residence program, and a supportive professional community. You’ll play an active role in shaping engaging learning experiences, integrating ICT, and contributing to a culture of reflective practice. About You

We have deliberately not provided set and narrow selection criteria. However, it would be expected that the successful candidate will:
  • have experience in teaching Visual Arts and Photographic Digital Media courses
  • have experience in the International Baccalaureate curriculum, desirable not essential
  • hold appropriate teaching and tertiary qualifications relevant to the position
  • be a dynamic and effective classroom practitioner
  • have the ability to differentiate instruction and cater for a range of learning abilities and needs
  • have a thorough understanding of the learning process, including the role of assessment and feedback
  • work effectively as a member of a team
  • be personally committed to learning and professional growth
  • have a strong work ethic
  • possess strong ICT competencies
  • show a genuine appreciation and commitment to pastoral care
  • participate in the College's co-curricular program
  • understand and adhere to the College's Child Safeguarding policies and practices
  • contribute to the continuous improvement of Child Safeguarding at Newington.
