Serving Western Australia for 50 years, our region employs over 700 people across Perth, Albany, Bunbury, Geraldton, and Karratha. Our Perth office, located in the CBD, was established in 1975 and has evolved to become one of the state’s leading consultants, providing multi-disciplinary services across Western Australia. These services support markets across Mining and Resources, Property and Buildings, Transport, Environment and Sustainability, Energy, Water, Digital and Advisory.
Due the impending retirement of the current incumbant, we are seeking expressions of interest for, our next Regional Market Leader – Western Australia (WA).
This key leadership position focuses on growing GHD’s market presence in WA and achieving our strategic goals of exceptional client experience, trusted client relationships, sustainable growth and profitability. The role has dual reporting lines to the Regional General Manager – Western Australia and the Australian Market Development Leader.
Who are we looking for?
The Regional Market Leader will drive the WA Region’s winning work strategy, ensuring we grow client revenue significantly and more than our targets, while leading a team of Market Leaders and Relationship Managers to build client relationships. We’re eager to position ourselves as a top quartile leader across our five markets.
Key elements of the role include:
Strategic Planning
- Provide vision and direction for WA Region Business Plan and support and drive its implementation
- Understand market trends impacting the business and use these insights to develop and implement strategies, ensuring we grow and sustain our Region in conjunction with the WA Management Team
- Act as a two-way conduit between APAC Market Leader community and the WA Region, sharing local insights to inform our strategy and bringing APAC priorities and best practice to WA
Business Development
- Identify and plan for where we will grow by leading the West Australian go-to market strategy across all markets
- Identify strategic clients and oversee the development of an integrated client engagement plan for strategic and growth clients
- Lead business development activities and campaigns locally, drawing on national and enterprise programs
- Lead and develop business development capability and client connectivity throughout WA
- Build GHD’s profile and relationships with key decision makers in the external market
Client Focus
- Build executive-level relationships with key clients, embed sustainable relationships
- Understand and share insights with broader leadership teams on market trends, client priorities, position in market and potential opportunities
- Lead events and client facing activities aligned with our bold growth strategy and business objectives
- Be a leader in Client Experience by influencing behaviours across GHD’s Enterprise Client Program
Leadership
- Lead the WA Market Leader and Relationship Manager teams to support the vision and direction of growth and the winning of work
- Contribute to talent and succession planning to ensure current and future capability to deliver on business and market activation plans
- Undertake leadership roles on priority pursuits and key bids as Project Director
- Actively contribute to the broader leadership of GHD as a member of the WA Management and Leadership Teams
- Bring a true Enterprise mindset in winning work, ensuring you develop relationships across APAC Market and Client leaders to both support WA activities and contribute to global growth
What you will bring to the team:
- Appropriate qualifications and significant industry and professional services experience
- Broad industry knowledge, as the role is degree and discipline agnostic – it is about strategy, connections, knowledge of the markets we work within
- Effective and proven business development and strategy, networking and client relationship management skills in a consulting environment, backed by strong, existing industry and client relationships
- A deep knowledge and understanding of the Western Australian market
- A commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion and to advocate for equity
- Commercial acumen and critical thinking ability
- For the right candidate, we will consider a part-time appointment (minimum of 0.8 FTE)
